Long term fan of your writing, first reading your HHD on mugglenet fanfiction and then the quality of that convinced me to get over my initial scepticism about your AQ series. Which I am delighted I did, I finished the first two books within a week and began reading The Deathly Regiment just as it was being uploaded.
The constant checking of your website for AQ updates got me reading your reviews as well.
While we have varied reading tastes a few have looked interesting enough for me to read (Such as "The Magicians" which I intend to buy when I get time...), a few classics I got an overview of and even when I am not interested in the subject, I still find you a good enough reviewer to read anyway, even though I am not a massive reader. Just really to say thank you.
I also wonder if you had any plans to review George R. R. Martins series, A Song of Ice and Fire? I know I sound a bit fanboyish here but I found it revolutionary and I wonder if I just have book-goggles on while reading it or if someone wider read would find it as compelling as the amount of twists and turns in it, in a good way, ruined TV series' like Homeland, as I was able to predict many of the twists due to the forward thinking paranoia that GRRM instilled.
I would also wonder if you planned to review books like C.S Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, or Tolkien? You have alluded to reading Lewis previously and I would love to hear your opinion on both.
Finally, if you are looking for an under-rated series, Glenn Cooks "The Black Company" series is worth a look. Each book being relatively short and the first relatively predictable in instances, his unique telling of the story, drawing on his own experience, really is fantastic. It starts of as a slog to read but, and you don't notice it, you slowly find yourself falling in love with the books.
Thanks again :) Looking forward to reading your SF novel when it comes out :)
Thanks for your kind words.
I have not read ASoIaF yet - I do intend to get to it eventually, but it's hard to work up enthusiasm to dive into a massive epic fantasy series that isn't even finished yet. I may wait until the last book is published... sometime this century.
I read The Chronicles of Narnia when I was much younger. I don't have any immediate plans to reread it (I don't think I'd like C.S. Lewis much now that I'm older and more atheistic), but I may do so someday.
Tolkien is another one on my TBR list. Yeah, I have never actually read LotR all the way through - heresy, I know.
I've heard of Glenn Cook, but not read anything by him. May try him out one of these days, if I find one of his books while I'm in the mood.
